Adam Bernbaum is running for re-election to House Position 1 in the 24th Legislative District. Bernbaum previously worked as a legislative assistant to Democratic state Senator Kevin Van De Wege before running for the seat. Before that, he worked as a field organizer for Congressman Derek Kilmer and as a policy analyst for the Council for Court Excellence, a nonprofit focused on behavioral health and criminal justice. Bernbaum also serves on the boards of the Olympic View Community Foundation, the Nor’wester Rotary, and the Clallam County Conservation Futures Program Advisory Board. Bernbaum had a successful first term in the Legislature, following through on several of his campaign promises. He voted in favor of rent stabilization, gun safety measures, and the historic Millionaires Tax, which will fund K-12 education, help the state provide free school meals, and expand eligibility for the Working Families Tax Credit. His votes on labor rights and environmental protections earned him high scores from the Washington State Labor Council and Washington Conservation Action. Bernbaum also sponsored successful legislation to increase "middle housing" in unincorporated areas. While we were disappointed by his vote against unemployment insurance for striking workers, he generally votes in alignment with progressive priorities. Adam Bernbaum has used his position in the House to advance progressive policies that help improve our quality of life for Washingtonians. We recommend re-electing him to another term representing the 24th Legislative District.
