Alexandria believes every person deserves a safe, affordable place to live. She has introduced bold legislation like The Place to Prosper Act and the Green New Deal for Public Housing Act to protect tenants from unjust evictions, guarantee legal counsel during housing disputes, and invest heavily in upgrading and building carbon-zero affordable housing.

Younger congresspeople who are nonetheless veterans of DC, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ritchie Torres represent neighboring districts but bring very different temperaments to their work. Torres, a former progressive City Council member, has become more moderate over his tenure—often critiquing the DSA-aligned left for undermining good governance. On the other hand, AOC is a national hero of the left and a potential future candidate for Senate or the presidency. However, though they represent different ideological “lanes,” they share a rejection of failed status quo politics—and a shared fight for a government that actually works better at delivering outcomes for working people in their districts and beyond.

Congressmember Ocasio-Cortez has been a strong environmental advocate during her time in Congress with a lifetime LCV score of 98% and a 100% score over the last 3 years. As champion for climate investments she has helped secure billions in federal investments for clean energy projects that will help reduce energy bills.

AOC helped redefine what’s politically possible in America. Since defeating one of the most powerful Democrats in Congress in 2018, she has become one of the nation’s leading voices for Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, labor rights, climate justice, taxing the rich, and taking on oligarchic power. Alongside Bernie Sanders, she continues helping lead the modern progressive movement.

Every endorsed candidate voted for the Faster Labor Contracts Act, a Teamsters-backed bill that would streamline the process for newly organized workers who are working to secure their first collective bargaining agreement.
