Allison RussoAllison Russo

State Representative Allison Russo of Upper Arlington has represented central Ohio in the Ohio House since 2019 and served as House Minority Leader, where she was a steadfast ally of public education and a leading voice against attacks on direct democracy — including the failed August 2023 effort to make it harder for citizens to amend Ohio’s constitution. A nationally respected health policy expert, Russo holds a doctorate in health policy from George Washington University and built her career expanding access to care for families, veterans, and seniors.

As Secretary of State, she will protect every eligible Ohioan’s freedom to vote, make elections secure and accessible, modernize business services, and restore trust in an office that should serve voters, not partisan ambition. She faces current State Treasurer Robert Sprague (R) in November.

EMILYs List recruits, trains and supports Democratic pro-choice women candidates at every level of the ballot. By helping to elect these women to office in 2025 and 2026, we’re not only building a foundation for the future, but we’re also putting strong women in charge of decisions that affect women and families every day — from the legislators who write laws to the attorneys general who defend and enforce them to the secretaries of state who ensure access to the ballot.
