Amita Gupta has spent over a decade actively serving Wake County public schools as an engaged parent, coach, and educational leader. As a former two-term PTSA President at Mills Park Middle School—the largest middle school in North Carolina—and an elected board member for NC Odyssey of the Mind Eastern Region, she has consistently championed student growth, creative problem-solving, and hands-on learning. An epidemiologist and healthcare professional with over 25 years of experience, Gupta pairs analytical rigor with a deep personal investment in community well-being, bringing a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach to educational policy and student wellness.

Throughout her leadership across school improvement teams and the District 7 Board Advisory Council, Gupta has worked tirelessly to unite diverse communities. As an American of South Asian origin, she has seen firsthand how meaningful representation builds trust, driving significant increases in parent participation among immigrant and local families. Her platform focuses on strengthening schools through competitive teacher support, expanding equitable STEAM and literacy programs, and bridging communication gaps so every family—regardless of background or language—has an active voice in their child’s education.

NCAAT in Action is proud to endorse Amita Gupta because of her steadfast commitment to inclusive public education, language accessibility, and transparent, responsive leadership. Her proven record of bringing communities together reflects the core values of NCAAT in Action.
