Ann Johnson Stewart is the state senator for Minnesota’s Senate District 45 which includes the 14 communities that border Lake Minnetonka and St. Bonifacius. She’s a civil engineer, University teacher, and former business owner. Senator Johnson Stewart is Vice Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee and a member of the Capital Investment, Environment, and State and Local Government Committees. She currently chairs the Electricity as a Vehicle Fuel Working Group and is a member of the Attorney General’s Task Force on the Future of Groundwater.

Senator Johnson Stewart earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental and civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She started a small consulting business, grew it to employ over 30 people, and sold it in 2022 to focus on running for Senate, but continues to teach at the University of Minnesota. She has a passion for workforce development; and spent decades mentoring and teaching BIPOC men and women in both the construction trades and civil design. As a senator, Ann’s focus is on infrastructure and the environment and will continue work on supporting and growing Minnesota’s infrastructure.
