Brad Lander is a champion for the everyday people of New York’s Tenth Congressional District, and with his leadership in Congress, a new gun safety majority can hold the gun lobby accountable and fight for safer communities across the country.

Micah Lasher and Brad Lander will be freshmen in the House of Representatives, but they are far from new kids on the block. Lander is heading to Congress after serving as New York City comptroller and co-founding the progressive caucus as a Brooklyn city council member. Lander was an early proponent of equity and dynamism in Brooklyn, fighting for bike lanes along Prospect Park and the Gowanus rezoning. Though he backtracked during the primary campaign to draw a contrast with incumbent Dan Goldman, he also previously expressed strong support for the revitalization of the Brooklyn Marine Terminal—which will deliver thousands of homes, new transit infrastructure and public space, and help shift delivery of goods to cleaner “blue highways.” We are eager to see Lasher and Lander bring policy vision, deep understanding of New York’s challenges, and unequivocal commitment to New Yorkers’ most fundamental rights to Congress.

Former New York City Comptroller Brad Lander has spent decades fighting for working families. Now, he wants to take that dedication to DC and to put human needs before militarism. “The billions that Trump is spending every day on his reckless, illegal war in Iran, part of an ever-expanding Pentagon budget that has kept growing whether Republicans or Democrats are in the White House, could pay for health care, child care, college tuition, fighting cancer, and much more here in the United States. Simply put, we could be saving lives, instead of ending them. Fighting for ‘bridges, not bombs’ is a key component of my campaign because I support reallocating funding away from the military-industrial complex towards improving the lives of working families in my district and across the country.”
