Rep. Brianna Thomas is running unopposed for re-election to represent the 34th Legislative District in Position 1. Prior to joining the state House, Thomas was the chief of staff for former Seattle City Council President Lorena Gonzalez. Previously, she led the effort to bring democracy vouchers to Seattle through the Honest Elections Initiative and also worked on the “Yes for SeaTac” campaign to raise the minimum wage to $15. Thomas has had two successful legislative sessions, proving herself to be a champion of progressive values. In 2025, she voted in favor of limiting rent increases to 10% to improve housing affordability and voted in favor of building more housing near transit. Additionally, she voted to strengthen anti-discrimination policies in schools and prohibit the removal of students from school grounds during the school day without parental authorization. During the 2026 legislative session, Thomas sponsored a Domestic Workers Bill of Rights. The bill helps ensure that domestic workers, many of whom are women, immigrants, and people of color, receive the right to workplace protections. Some of the key protections the bill includes are the right to minimum wage and overtime, written agreements, and privacy protections. This bill was a huge step forward in expanding labor rights and protecting domestic workers statewide. Thomas also voted not only to pass the Millionaires Tax, but also joined the coalition of progressive lawmakers in striking the corporate tax exemption from the original bill. While she is running unopposed, Thomas is a consistent progressive champion and has earned another term representing the 34th Legislative District.
