Rep. Carol Glanville flipped a Republican House seat in 2022 and is now running to flip a Senate seat. Raised in a blue-collar family, Carol has worked in education at all levels, from pre-K to adult education. In Lansing, she has fought and delivered real results for West Michigan families, securing more than $100 million in infrastructure funding for the district, pushing back against attempts to cut education and healthcare, and working hard to help families put food on the table and send their kids to quality public schools. Winning this seat will help Democrats protect their majority in the Michigan Senate.

Carol Glanville is running for her first term in the Michigan State Senate after serving in the Michigan House since 2022. She was previously a city commissioner in Walker.
Born and raised in a blue-collar family, Glanville spent more than 20 years as a teacher and educational leader before winning a special election for State House in a major upset in 2022. As a state representative, Glanville has secured key investments for West Michigan communities and programs, including education, infrastructure, and Meals on Wheels. She has also played a key role in several legislative accomplishments, including the repeal of the so-called “right-to-work” law, expansion of civil rights and voting rights laws, and free meals for students. A number of community and educational organizations have honored Glanville with “Legislator of the Year” recognition.
Glanville’s priorities include expanding access to healthcare and education; reducing costs; protecting the rights of workers.
Glanville has been endorsed by the following progressive partner organizations: American Federation of Teachers - Michigan, Equality Michigan, Michigan AFL-CIO, Sierra Club - Michigan, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Michigan Association for Justice, meets criteria for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, and Service Employees International Union - Michigan.
Glanville’s opponent in this race is incumbent Mark Huizenga. Huizenga espouses right-wing views on many issues and has developed a conservative voting record throughout his time in the legislature, opposing bills that have expanded the rights of workers, women, and voters. Huizenga has also been endorsed by Right to Life of Michigan, an anti-choice organization.
Carol Glanville is the most progressive choice in this race.

EMILYs List recruits, trains and supports Democratic pro-choice women candidates at every level of the ballot. By helping to elect these women to office in 2025 and 2026, we’re not only building a foundation for the future, but we’re also putting strong women in charge of decisions that affect women and families every day — from the legislators who write laws to the attorneys general who defend and enforce them to the secretaries of state who ensure access to the ballot.
