This Southern Brooklyn district will be one of the most closely watched in New York City on election night, providing rare competitiveness in the deep-blue borough. In fact, the race is a rematch of the 2024 election, which incumbent Republican Assembly member Alec Brook-Krasny won by just under 1,500 votes. Brook-Krasny previously represented the district as a Democrat before resigning in 2015; in 2017, he was arrested on felony healthcare fraud charges but was later acquitted. Between the party-switching and scandal-plagued Brook-Krasny and challenger Chris McCreight, the choice is clear: we recommend McCreight. He is currently senior advisor to Council Member Kayla Santosuosso and a district leader representing the constituents he seeks to serve in Albany. On policy, we are excited to see McCreight replace the incumbent, who has made opposition to congestion pricing one of his signatures.
