Cole Slaski is a Democrat running for his first term in the Michigan House of Representatives in the 36th District.
Slaski is running against Republican incumbent Steve Carra who is an election denier who stands against LGBTQ+ rights and is also endorsed by the anti-reproductive freedom organization Right to Life Michigan and the right-wing organization Citizens for Traditional Values. Carra voted against legislation that would ban child marriage and in 2021 he signed onto a letter to then Vice President Mike Pence, which asked Pence to delay the certification of the 2020 election based on unfounded allegations of election fraud.
We cannot speak to the progressive bonafides of Cole Slaski due to limited available information. However, they are running against Steve Carra who is decidedly anti-progressive. Because their opponent is so extreme, we believe Cole Slaski is the best choice in this race.
