Darializa Avila Chevalier is the proud daughter of immigrants from the Dominican Republic who’s been fighting for her neighbors in Upper Manhattan since she was a teen. A college educator and organizer who currently serves as an Investigator with Neighborhood Defender Services of Harlem, Darializa is running on a bold agenda to restore power to the people of NY-13 and make life better for the working class families of the district. As a constituent of NY-13 for nearly two decades, Darializa has watched homelessness spike, families flee, and NYCHA infrastructure crumble as tired representation has failed to meet the moment. Today, her priorities for the district include investing in dignified affordable housing, abolishing ICE, and expanding union protections. Darializa Avila Chevalier is a working-class Afro-Latina organizer, UAW member, and the daughter of Dominican immigrants who has spent years fighting for her community in upper Manhattan. Seeing her family navigate immigration issues, economic hardship, and structural racism shaped her commitment to justice. She serves as an investigator at Neighborhood Defender Services of Harlem, supporting New Yorkers targeted by the legal system. Darializa running for Congressional District 13 to fight for babies, not bombs, housing for all, and to abolish ICE.
