Sen. Emily Alvarado is running unopposed to serve another term in the state Senate representing the 34th Legislative District. Previously, she spent five years working at Seattle's Office of Housing, including two as its director. She was also an organizer at Planned Parenthood and served on the board of the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance, among several other leadership roles in community organizations. Throughout her time in both chambers, Alvarado has been a consistent progressive voice, championing policies that improve the quality of our lives. In 2025, Alvarado led the charge in passing the rent stabilization bill to cap yearly rent increases, which will help reduce homelessness and allow families to remain in their homes. During the 2026 legislative session, she introduced bills to ban interest charges on unpaid and new medical debt and to limit unfair post-event surge pricing by ride-hailing companies. Alvarado voted favorably on a number of progressive bills, such as the historic Millionaires Tax, a ban on federal agents wearing face masks, and the repeal of the tax exemption for data centers, which have been harming natural resources in rural areas. Alvarado continues to be a progressive champion and has earned your vote to serve another term representing the 34th Legislative District.
