Harold Pope is a Democrat running for his first term in the Michigan House of Representatives in the 75th District. Pope’s lifelong commitment to service started at an early age. Raised by a single mother in Albany, New York, Pope learned from an early age the importance of advocacy and hard work. After graduating from the University of Dayton, where he took on a variety of student leadership roles, Pope was commissioned in the Army, where he eventually rose to the rank of Major. After moving to Lansing, he began working at Ford and took an active role in his union, the UAW. He later formed a nonprofit centered around mentorship and became active in a number of civic organizations. Just as Pope’s life and career have centered around bringing people and changing systems for the better, so would his service in the House. If elected, his priorities would include keeping neighborhoods safe; protecting seniors; helping working families; growing the economy; and expanding benefits and programs for veterans. Pope has been endorsed by the following progressive partner organizations: Michigan Association for Justice, Pope is running against Republican Clinton Tarver. Harold Pope is the most progressive choice in this race.
