As Chair of the Senate Labor Committee, she led landmark legislation expanding workers’ rights, including earned sick and safe time, stronger protections for unions, banning captive audience meetings, and strengthening workplace safety laws. Jen also authored the landmark Protect Reproductive Options (PRO) Act, which codified abortion rights into Minnesota law after the fall of Roe v.

Senator Jen McEwen is the champion Duluth deserves when it comes to protecting our water. She's a fierce advocate for her community and puts our health and the quality of our water first. Her voice in St Paul means that Duluth, and the rest of Minnesota, will see safe and healthy water for generations to come.

As Chair of the Senate Labor Committee, McEwen has been an ardent champion of nurses in the Minnesota Senate, including her leadership to secure a hearing in March 2025 for the Quality Patient Care Act. McEwen was among the strongest opponents of efforts to undermine or weaken Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST), Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML), update break laws, and the noncompete ban passed in 2023.

Senator Jen McEwen represents Duluth in the Minnesota State Senate. She is a founding member of the legislature’s Reproductive Freedom Caucus, and was the lead author of the Protect Reproductive Options (PRO) Act that codified the legal right to an abortion in Minnesota state statutes. This fortified reproductive rights in Minnesota as federal rights and protections were taken away.

Prior to becoming a Senator, Jen served as a facilitator for a comprehensive, year-long sex ed curriculum, which is scientifically accurate, age appropriate, LGTBQ inclusive — and covers healthy relationships, affirmative consent, contraception and safer sex methods.

Chief author of SF4298, which passed the Senate - a pause on new data center permits lasting one year past a required PUC report on energy, water, metals, localized impacts, protected species and Tribal Nations' rights. The bill bars any report contractor with data-center funding ties. Limited on AI safety and regulation, strong on data center opposition, strong public voice on AI.
