Jess Lewis is exactly who we need to protect our environment. As an air pollution scientist who worked for the EPA within the Office of Water, she understands exactly the threats Minnesota is facing as we battle climate change and threats to our water supply. Jess knows that pollution from the air often ends up in water, generating risks to public health and our natural ecosystems and that increasing wildfires create increasing challenges to our aquatic environments. She is who we need in House District 43B.

Jess Lewis is a lifelong public servant, air pollution scientist, union member, and mom running for the Minnesota State House to represent District 43B. She is running to ensure her community has a progressive leader who will fight for working families, defend democracy, and build a future where every child grows up with clean air, strong public schools, and real opportunity.

Jess has spent her career protecting public health and the planet. She has served in several federal agencies, including the Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and helped coordinate clean household energy programs with the World Health Organization. In these roles, she brought people together across differences to solve complex problems through science, integrity, and collaboration.

Her decision to run for office became personal when the Trump administration dismantled USAID, abruptly ending lifesaving programs and firing nearly all staff, including her. As a federal employee, Jess had sworn an oath to support and defend the Constitution — and when her job ended, that commitment did not.

Jess is also a proud member of the American Foreign Service Association (AFSA). As a parent with children in local public schools, she is committed to climate action, strong public education, protecting public health, and defending democracy for every Minnesota family.
