Fuse Washington 2026 Progressive Voters Guide

Redmond City Council member Jessica Forsythe is challenging Rep. Amy Walen to represent the 48th Legislative District in the Washington State House. Forsythe has been a progressive voice on the council since she was first elected in 2019. Before joining the council, she served on the executive committee of the League of Women Voters Seattle-King County and the executive board for the 48th Legislative District Democrats. Forsythe has been exceptionally active in the community, co-founding the Seattle Symphony PRIDE contingent, joining campaigns for Washington’s most progressive initiatives, and participating in a global network to donate her creative skills where needed. Outside of public and community service, she serves as a creative director for her own studio, Little Hinka Design. Additionally, she serves as the Executive Director of Emerge Washington, which recruits and trains Democratic women to run for office. Forsythe is running on a number of progressive values aimed towards a more equitable and representative society. Being a small business owner herself, Forsythe understands the complexities and costs of running a business and will work to advocate for financial support programs and rental relief. She is also an ardent supporter of public education, supporting strategic funding to improve staff retention and avoid school closures. Forsythe also brings a renter's perspective to her approach to affordable housing, proposing solutions to help keep our neighbors in their homes while creating opportunities for affordable home ownership. She has been endorsed by an increasing number of progressive partners, including Fuse Washington, the producers of this guide. Jessica Forsythe is a compassionate leader with proven experience advancing progress during her time on the Redmond City Council. She deserves your vote to serve the 48th Legislative District in the state Legislature.

Jessica Forsythe is challenging the incumbent corporate democrat Amy Walen, who voted against the millionaire’s tax and rent stabilization, and has a history of taking campaign contributions from big business and corporate PACs. Meanwhile, Forsythe, who is currently a Redmond City Council member, is a union member who has championed and passed tenant protections, co-authored Redmond’s Climate Emergency Declaration, and worked to expand transit options in the city. Let’s see what Forsythe, who has taken down incumbents in the past, can do in Olympia, and flip this seat to a union member and progressive champion. Vote Forsythe!
