Jessica also supports commonsense gun safety measures that respect the rights of responsible gun owners while helping keep firearms out of dangerous hands. If elected, she will work to strengthen background checks, close loopholes that allow dangerous individuals to obtain guns, and provide greater protections for survivors of domestic violence.

Jessica Killin is a Colorado Springs native and Army veteran. Jessica is ready to hit the ground running due in part to her experience as a congressional chief of staff for three government representatives. As CD5’s representative, Jessica’s priorities will include lowering costs by ending irrational tariffs; preventing oil and grocery companies from gouging consumers; improving the affordable housing stock in the Pikes Peak region; holding monopoly utility companies accountable; lowering energy costs by investing in more affordable energy productions; and creating a more robust middle class through equitable tax and economic policy. As a veteran, she will work to increase staffing at VA clinics, ensure veterans receive their hard-earned benefits, restore full funding for the Veterans Crisis Line, and work with the community to help veterans transition to civilian life. Jessica will also address the cost of healthcare by repealing Medicaid cuts and preventing further cuts, allowing Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices, capping insulin at $35, and preventing drug companies from price gouging.

Veteran Jessica Killin is putting together a strong campaign in this district, which is one of the few Republican-held seats in the country that has been becoming bluer. As the demographics of the district change, particularly from younger families moving from the Denver metro area looking for more affordable housing, Democrats have benefited, and with a strong top-of-the-ticket in Colorado, Killin is well-poised for an upset.

Jessica Killin is a fourth-generation Coloradan, U.S. Army veteran, and devoted mom who has consistently proven her deep commitment to her state and country. The daughter of public school educators, Jessica was raised in Colorado Springs and grew up understanding the value of public service. After earning a ROTC scholarship, Jessica served as a Captain and paratrooper in the U.S. Army, leading soldiers overseas as a military police officer. Following her military service, Jessica spent more than a decade advocating for military families. Jessica knows exactly why Washington isn’t working for Southern Colorado, and she’s running for Congress to be an independent voice to lower costs for families, support our veterans, and restore fiscal responsibility. Jessica is the no-nonsense leader Coloradans deserve to flip CO-05 — the most Democratic-trending congressional district in the nation.
