Jorge Barón is the incumbent King County councilmember representing King County District 4. He has a proven track record for showing up for non-citizen members of our community, for example by leading the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project for 15 years before becoming a councilmember. As a councilmember, he has continued this line of work by co-sponsoring policy to strengthen protections for immigrants and refugees in King County. One of the highest priorities of UAW members in this current political moment is protecting our non-citizen colleagues, and having Jorge as a councilmember again will help us do that. Jorge Barón is running unopposed for re-election for King County Council representing District 4. He is the former Executive Director of the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project and was one of the first two Latino members of the King County Council, along with fellow council member Teresa Mosqueda. Since his election to the council, Barón has served as chair of the Law and Justice Committee and vice-chair of the Budget and Fiscal Management Committee. He was also unanimously selected as vice-chair of the council. Barón has had a successful first term, proving himself to be a reliable progressive leader for King County. Recently, he fought for equitable transportation funding for Seattle and protections for our vibrant immigrant communities against federal overreach through immigration enforcement. His vision for King County remains rooted in his progressive values, advocating for preventive measures to reduce gun violence and improve public safety, celebrating the arts and culture, and ensuring stable, affordable housing for all. Although Jorge Barón is running unopposed, he has more than earned your vote to serve another term on the King County Council, District 4.
