Julie Brixie is an incumbent Democrat running for her fifth term in the Michigan House of Representatives in the 73rd District. Brixie has worked in public service for more than two decades starting in local government. For 18 years she served on the Meridian Township Board of Trustees, including eight years as Trustee and ten years as Treasurer, where she worked on fixing roads, supporting the libraries, and making curbside recycling free. In 2024, Governor Whitmer signed Brixie’s bill to require school districts to provide parents with information on how to store firearms safely. Brixie has also played a key role in protecting the rights of workers and voters; expanding access to healthcare; repealing the retirement tax and so-called “right-to-work” laws; and investing in education, public safety, and infrastructure. Brixie has been endorsed by the following progressive partner organizations: American Federation of Teachers - Michigan, Equality Michigan Action Network, Michigan AFL-CIO, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Michigan Association for Justice, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, and Service Employees International Union - Michigan.
