Katrina Manetta is running for Michigan State House in the 58th District because she believes it shouldn’t be this hard for working families to get ahead. Born and raised in the district, she’s a community leader who’s spent years fighting for her neighbors and pushing for real solutions on affordability, public safety, and health care so government works for everyday people, not powerful insiders.

Katrina Manetta is a Democrat running for her first term in the Michigan House of Representatives in the 58th District. Manetta is a lifelong resident of Shelby Township who grew up learning the importance of hard work and looking out for others. She graduated from Utica Public schools and Oakland University. She has worked as a server and has organized her friends and neighbors to take action on political issues that matter to them. Manetta is running because she believes it shouldn't be this hard for ordinary people to get ahead, and because in order to solve enormous challenges, we need people In elected office who have faced those challenges. Having struggled to make ends meet, Manetta wants to make life more affordable for working people by working to curb costs and raise wages. She wants to ensure adequate funding for police, fire, and mental health services. She also wants to invest in education, job training programs, and infrastructure. She also supports policies to expand the use of clean energy and protect our environment. Manetta has been endorsed by the following progressive partner organizations: American Federation of Teachers - Michigan, Equality Michigan Action Network, Michigan AFL-CIO, Sierra Club - Michigan, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Detroit Action, Michigan Association for Justice, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, and Service Employees International Union - Michigan. Manetta is running against Republican Ron Robinson. Robinson espouses right-wing views on many issues and has developed a conservative voting record in the legislature. He has also been endorsed by Right to Life of Michigan, an anti-choice organization. Manetta is the most progressive choice in this race.
