Kyrstin Schuette is an organizer, strategist, and lifelong advocate running for the Minnesota House of Representatives in District 43A. As a teenager, she was a plaintiff in a landmark civil rights case in the Anoka-Hennepin School District after a wave of student suicides exposed failures to protect LGBTQ+ youth. That experience shaped her lifelong commitment to equity, civil rights, and safe, inclusive public schools. For more than 15 years, Kyrstin has worked up and down the ballot to elect leaders and advance policies that protect reproductive freedom, expand opportunity, and strengthen working families. She has worked for and alongside leaders including Congresswoman Angie Craig and Congresswoman Kelly Morrison, and previously served as Political Director of the Minnesota DFL, helping build winning coalitions across the state.
Kyrstin owns a small political consultancy and is the founder and executive director of the School Board Integrity Project, a national organization dedicated to defending public education and advancing equity in school governance. She is running to bring courageous, values-driven leadership to the Legislature to safeguard reproductive rights, strengthen public schools, and ensure every Minnesotan has the freedom and opportunity to thrive. Kyrstin lives in the district with her wife, Kayla, and is committed to building governing power rooted in justice, inclusion, and the real-life experiences of Minnesota families.
