Melat KirosMelat Kiros

Melat Kiros is a lawyer, PhD student, and grassroots candidate running to bring a new generation of leadership to Washington — accountable to working people, not corporate PACs or entrenched political power. Melat’s candidacy is also about challenging a political status quo that has failed to deliver for working people.

Melat Kiros represents the new generation ready to take on entrenched power, fight for bold climate action, challenge corporate influence, and deliver for working people across Colorado.
For decades, this seat has been held by an incumbent backed by corporate PACs and billionaire influence, letting powerful interests dictate policy while everyday people get left behind.
It’s time for leadership that puts communities over corporations, and Melat is stepping up to do just that.

Ethiopian-born Melat Kiros immigrated to Denver as a child and was inspired by her parents’ commitment to serving others. “True leadership means working for peace, not preparing for endless war. The United States has spent over $8 trillion on war since 2001, often with little accountability and devastating consequences. We’ve also failed to recognize and prevent the devastation of genocidal wars claiming the lives of millions from Palestine and Sudan to the Congo and Tigray. It’s time to reimagine our global role: not as a militarized empire, but as a champion of diplomacy, human rights, and peacebuilding. We need to end the blank checks for endless war and reallocate that funding towards diplomacy abroad and housing, education, and healthcare here at home.”

Moderate on AI safety and regulation, strong on data center opposition, moderate public voice on AI.
