A fourth-generation Staten Islander and third-generation union member, Mike has dedicated his life to protecting, educating, and advocating for the people of Staten Island and South Brooklyn. And he believes it’s time we put money back into the pockets of working families instead of corporate weapons manufacturers. “The Pentagon budget is astronomically high, and is slated to increase by 50%. There is simply no need to keep expanding a defense budget that doesn’t make America safer, but increases every year as it expands its payments to federal corporate contractors. As a nation, we’ve paid Pentagon contractors over $7 trillion since 9/11. Add that to the bill for Iraq and Afghanistan and that’s $15 trillion. We need investments and spending to be redirected towards programs that help people live better, not an endless increase of spending for forever wars.”
