Mike McFall is an incumbent Democrat running for his third term to the Michigan House of Representatives. McFall grew up in a blue-collar, union family just outside of Flint. He worked his way through college and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Community Development and Public Administration and has worked most of his career in the nonprofit sector.
During his time in office McFall has worked towards cutting taxes for retirees, expanding the Working Families Tax Credit, strengthening LGBTQ+ civil rights protections, repealing the state's 1931 abortion ban, passing gun-safety laws, restoring union and prevailing wage protections, increasing school funding, adding thousands of free Pre-K spots, and securing hundreds of millions in state funding for water infrastructure and affordable housing.
McFall’s priorities include making health care and mental health care more affordable and accessible, supporting workers through fair wages and secure retirements, protecting civil rights and equality, strengthening local governments so more resources flow back to communities, and protecting clean water through resilient infrastructure investment.
McFall has been endorsed by the following progressive partner organizations: Equality Michigan Action Network, Michigan AFL-CIO, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Michigan Association for Justice, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, and Service Employees International Union - Michigan.
McFall is running against Republican Larry Szyska who believes that gun rights should be completely unrestricted and that trans people don’t exist.
Mike McFall is the most progressive choice in this race.
