Nick Rowe is a Democrat running for his first term in the Michigan House of Representatives in the 42nd District. Rowe served 20 years of active duty in the U.S. Air Force and graduated from the US Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and a Master of Business Administration. He now resides in Gull Lake and now serves as a full-time faculty member at Western Michigan University in their College of Aviation.
Rowe's priorities center on lowering the cost of everyday life, including groceries, housing, healthcare, and childcare, while supporting workers' ability to retire with dignity through a smarter, more efficient government. He also focuses on strengthening Michigan's workforce through investment in education and innovation, aiming to pay teachers competitively, fund research at schools and universities, and retain top talent in the state. His priorities also include a commitment to providing stability amid economic and political uncertainty, positioning himself as a leader who puts people over partisanship to give families and businesses confidence to plan for the future.
Rowe is endorsed by the following progressive partner organizations: Service Employees International Union - Michigan.
Rowe is running against Republican incumbent Matt Hall who now serves as the Speaker of the House. Hall has been at the forefront of fueling election conspiracy theories, led Republican opposition to policies that protect civil rights and freedoms, and has spread disinformation about efforts to protect the LGBTQ+ community. Hall has led one of the most extreme crops of right-wing lawmakers this state has ever seen. Hall is also endorsed by the anti-reproductive freedom organization Right to Life Michigan and the right-wing organization Citizens for Traditional Values.
Nick Rowe is the better choice in this race.
