Tabitha's List: Candidates You Can Trust

Phillip Ensler is an attorney, former Teach for America teacher, and advocate for the Jewish community. Every year he takes students from Montgomery Public Schools to DC to learn about government. He's a true public servant. As a state legislator representing Montgomery, he got a bill passed banning glock switches and another banning animal cruelty.
John Nehemiah Ezekiel Wahl got a TN driver's license and registered to vote in TN in 2020, attesting under oath that he was a resident of TN. He didn't have an AL driver's license to vote with and instead used a homemade ID, claiming his religious beliefs didn't allow for government IDs. (Apparently that religious belief only applies in Alabama, not Tennessee). Also former Chair of the AL GOP. I could go on and on about this guy!

Thought you might be interested in what he stands for and what his background is. He's a Jewish man from NY who did his own civil rights heritage tour after graduation and fell in love with Alabama. He spent two years teaching social studies at a predominantly black school in Montgomery. He worked as a lawyer for the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Birds of a Feather Vote Together

I support Phillip Ensler because I’ve been impressed by his approach to public service and, especially, his willingness to work across the aisle to actually get things done. As a state representative, he represented Montgomery’s House District 74 and built a record around issues affecting students, families, public safety and communities. He worked with Republicans and Democrats to advance legislation, including Beau’s Law, an animal welfare measure, and legislation establishing conflict-resolution and violence-prevention instruction for Alabama public school students.
I also appreciate that Ensler brings experience as an educator, attorney and community advocate to public office. Before serving in the Legislature, he taught social studies in Montgomery Public Schools and created a mentorship program that has helped Alabama students pursue college and career opportunities. As lieutenant governor, he would preside over the Alabama Senate, and I believe his experience working with people who don't always agree with him would be valuable in that role.
For me, supporting Phillip Ensler is about supporting a leader who believes public service should be about finding solutions, listening to people and working with others—even when you don't share the same political party.
