Rachel Crowther is a Democrat running for her first term as representative for House District 90. She currently serves on the Courtland Township Board of Trustees as the only Democratic township trustee in Kent County. Crowther is extensively involved in the Cannon Township and Rockford communities. She currently owns a yoga studio in Rockford and serves on a number of nonprofit and community boards relating to philanthropy, recreation, and hospitality. As a hotel general manager, she received an award for her excellent customer service and involvement in the community. Economic development is just one of the many issues Crowther wants to focus on in the House. She also supports investing in education, infrastructure, and mental and physical healthcare. Protecting Michigan’s natural resources and rural communities is another high priority for Crowther. Crowther has been endorsed by the following progressive partner organizations: Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan Crowther is running against Republican Lynn Afendoulis. Afendoulis moved to this district relatively recently, having represented a different district from 2019 to 2021. Afendoulis espouses right-wing views on many issues and developed a conservative voting record in her term in the legislature. Rachel Crowther is the most progressive choice in this race.
