Rob Foxcurran is running for King County Assessor following John Wilson's resignation. Foxcurran is a fifth-generation Seattle resident and currently works as a Senior Appraiser for the City of Seattle and as a Hearing Examiner on the King County Board of Appeals and Equalization. The King County Assessor is responsible for fairly assessing property values and administering property tax exemption programs. While the office determines assessed property values, it does not set property taxes or collect taxes. Foxcurran's campaign is centered around accessibility and keeping residents from being priced out of their homes. He acknowledges the advantages that corporate landowners have over homeowners and small business owners in property tax assessment appeals. Foxcurran advocates for plain-language guidance and digital tools to make county resources accessible and understandable for all. He also proposes several solutions for renter protections, foreclosure prevention, and affordable housing development. He supports lifting the 1% levy cap, establishing homestead protections, and creating a renter's tax credit to help offset the burden of property tax increases on renters. Foxcurran's campaign has been endorsed by some of our progressive partners and several progressive elected leaders. Rob Foxcurran has demonstrated a thoughtful and well-informed campaign for King County Assessor, focused on improving our housing supply and affordability for all. He is our recommendation in this race.
