State Representative Ruwa Romman is the first Palestinian elected to any public office in the state of Georgia. While some know Representative Romman as the Palestinian speaker who wasn’t allowed onstage at the 2024 DNC, she has also been organizing in Georgia for over 12 years to flip the state. Ruwa is now running for State Senate because the old playbook has failed too many times. At a moment of fear and uncertainty, Ruwa believes that when we all organize, we can build a better future.

Georgia State Representative Ruwa Romman has taken a consistent stance against militarism both at home and abroad. She was one of the first elected officials to oppose Cop City and the militarization of police around Metro Atlanta.

On the international stage, she has been a vocal critic of unconditional U.S. military aid, particularly regarding the conflict in Gaza and is against legislation that codifies the IHRA definition.
