Shelia Edwards is the Democratic nominee for the Georgia Public Service Commission and a community leader, entrepreneur, and public policy professional. She is running to put People Before Profits by prioritizing affordability, accountability, and a clean energy future for Georgia. Shelia has advocated for Georgia ratepayers, challenged repeated utility rate increases, and called for large energy users, including data centers, to pay their fair share rather than shifting costs to families and small businesses. She supports investments in clean, reliable energy, including expanded solar. Shelia began her career with Lockheed Space Operations supporting NASA’s Space Shuttle Program at Kennedy Space Center and later served as District Director for Congressman David Scott and Interim Executive Director of the Georgia House Democratic Caucus. She holds a Communications degree from Benedict College, completed executive leadership training at Emory University, and is pursuing graduate studies in public policy at Georgia State University.

Won the District 5 Democratic primary outright on 5/19/26 with 55.7%, beating Angelia Pressley and Craig Cupid; faces Republican Joshua Tolbert in November. Running to 'protect people's pocketbooks and make sure they don't have to decide between keeping a roof over their heads and paying these astronomical bills'; would push Georgia Power toward more clean energy. Limited on AI safety and regulation, strong on data center opposition, strong public voice on AI.
