During his years in the Senate, Senator Brown was a champion for many of the lifesaving measures that can curb our country’s epidemic of gun violence, including expanding background checks to all gun sales and providing desperately needed funding to lifesaving community violence intervention programs.

No one in American public life has fought longer or harder for Ohio’s working people than Sherrod Brown. Over 18 years in the U.S. Senate — and before that in the U.S. House, as Ohio Secretary of State, and as a state representative — Brown built his career on a simple idea: all work has dignity, and the people who do the work deserve a government on their side. This November, in a special election for the seat vacated by Vice President JD Vance, Brown is asking Ohioans to send him back to the U.S. Senate, and OEA members have hundreds of thousands of reasons to help him get there. Start with the achievement that touched more Ohio educators than perhaps any federal law in a generation: the repeal of the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO). For four decades, WEP and GPO unfairly slashed the earned Social Security benefits of Ohio teachers, education support professionals, and other public servants.

Senator Sherrod Brown was a dependable voice on our issues during his time in Congress. He espouses a progressive, diplomacy-first approach to American foreign policy that we can work with. He has voted against US involvement in Yemen, voted against the Iraq War, supported the Obama-era Iran deal, and critiqued Trump’s withdrawal from President Obama’s Iran deal (which verifiably blocked Iran’s path to nuclear weapons).

We are thrilled that former Sen. Sherrod Brown will be running to rejoin the Senate, and are proud to endorse him.

The administration’s dismantling of international family planning aid, its willful destruction of already purchased contraceptive supplies, and its ongoing efforts to deny basic reproductive health care to people require a strong congressional response.

Jon Husted is either unwilling or unable to stand up for decency, global health, and human rights. Sherrod Brown will. We need him back in the Senate.

Former Senator Sherrod Brown is running to win this seat against an appointed incumbent who is tied to the largest corruption scandal in state history, in a state that has been hit hard by economic challenges and tariffs. Brown has a track record of winning working-class voters in red-leaning territory. Ohio is one of Democrats' most realistic offensive flips.

Brown has spent decades fighting for Teamsters in Ohio and across the country. He successfully led the legislative battle to protect earned pension benefits for Teamsters retirees, introduced the bipartisan Railway Safety Act, and stood shoulder to shoulder with Teamsters on the picket line and at the bargaining table. If elected, Brown has committed to co-sponsoring the Faster Labor Contracts Act in the Senate.
