SF YIMBY and its District 2 subchapter Northern Neighbors proudly endorses Stephen Sherrill for San Francisco City Supervisor, District 2. Over his time in office, Supervisor Sherrill has demonstrated a results-oriented approach that reflects the priorities of his district. We have been encouraged by his pro-housing record, including his vote and vocal support for the Family Zoning Plan, and his willingness to help advance key projects that add homes such as 3333 and 3700 California Street. These actions show a clear understanding that addressing the housing shortage is essential to maintaining the vitality of District 2 and the City as a whole. Equally important, Supervisor Sherrill has been consistently accessible and engaged with community organizations, including ours. While we have not always agreed with every position he has taken, his proactive engagement with us on issues that he knows we care about, stands out.

The Sierra Club is proud to endorse Supervisor Sherrill for District 2 Supervisor this November. Covering the northern neighborhoods of San Francisco, District 2 is home to some of San Francisco’s most iconic parks and vistas. The low-lying marina and waterfront also put large parts of it at significant risk of sea-level rise and its commercial corridors and residential streets are the places where important decisions about safer streets, transit, and new homes near jobs and shops will be made. In just his first 18 months Supervisor Sherrill has built up a strong environmental record, and the Sierra Club is excited to help him extend that into a second term. In 2025, Sherrill voted with the Sierra Club on every vote where the Club took a public position.

We recommend voting for Stephen Sherrill for Supervisor, District 2.
Sherrill brings real policy experience and a laser focus on responsive, effective government. He served as a senior policy advisor in the Bloomberg administration in New York, led the Mayor's Office of Innovation here, and as Supervisor has cut red tape while focusing on public safety, small businesses, and the cost of living. District 2 agrees: he won 69% of the vote in June (https://elections.growsf.org/2026-06-02), and he faces no serious opposition in November.
"Without safe streets, parents won't let their kids walk to school, businesses can't keep their doors open, and people lose faith in the city. Rebuilding that trust starts with visible results like cleaner sidewalks, faster responses when people call for help, and better coordination across city departments to address public drug use and improve street conditions."
Stephen Sherrill, Supervisor, District 2
Why vote for Stephen Sherrill?
Public safety: Sherrill co-sponsored legislation to speed up 911 responses near schools and parks, co-sponsored Mayor Lurie's RV homelessness legislation, supported the Recovery First ordinance expanding sober housing, and led the city's new free firearm storage program with SFPD.
Small business: Van Ness from City Hall to Broadway has 53% ground-floor vacancy (https://growsf.org/research/2025-07-14-retail-vacancy/). Sherrill's plan to let stores fill those longtime-vacant spaces passed unanimously, and he helped extend the First Year Free (https://sftreasurer.org/business/first-year-free) program, which has waived startup fees for over 13,000 small businesses.
Making government work: When he ran the Mayor's Office of Innovation, his team built the technology that finally let San Francisco's nine street outreach teams across four departments share one view of the people they serve: better care, faster service, lower costs. He runs his own office the same way, measuring success by constituent satisfaction and follow-through.

Since becoming supervisor back in 2024, Sherrill has supported stronger enforcement (https://thevoicesf.org/enough-is-enough-sf-leaders-rally-behind-new-plan-to-shield-families-from-drug-activity/) against drug dealing and helped pass an extension (https://www.sf.gov/news-mayor-lurie-extends-first-year-free-program-helping-small-businesses-open-and-grow) of SF’s First Year Free program, which waives certain fees for small businesses. Sherrill comes to the job with a data-driven mindset (https://www.votestephensherrill.com/about); he’s a former staffer for NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg and prior to becoming supervisor led the Mayor’s Office of Innovation under former Mayor London Breed. Sherrill’s performance has won him widespread support in District 2 - in the previous June special election, he won 69% of the vote. (https://www.sfelections.org/results/20260602w/index.html)

Endorsement: Stephen Sherrill #1
Supervisor Sherrill has put in the work for his constituents. His top priorities remain public safety and clean, safe streets, which are top priorities for ConnectedSF and our D2Unite Members. He continues to be an advocate for small businesses, cutting red tape and reducing fees. He’s creative in his approaches to meeting goals for District 2, from minor fixes (a cracked sidewalk) to major achievements, like identifying financial solutions and reform to help jumpstart stalled development.
Note: We disagree with his endorsement of Proposition H; he needs to demand more accountability of SFMTA. And we are highly concerned with his strong support of Scott Wiener. We agree with his opposition to Propositions B and I.

Nod to Rank Choice Voting: Endorsement: Nick Berg #2
While Sherrill is the obvious choice in this race, rank choice voting allows for some whacky outcomes, so we are providing a second option here: Nick Berg is a real estate executive for a property management firm. His values align with those of ConnectedSF and D2Unite, as he was a volunteer on the SaferSF campaign to recall District Attorney Chesa Boudin and his top priorities include:
• Treatment-First, Shelter-First initiatives to solve the drug and homelessness crisis
-Better schools through choice
• Responsible spending. By focusing on accountability, demanding independent audits and sunsetting programs that don't demonstrate results.
