Redmond City Councilmember Vanessa Kritzer is running for the Washington State House of Representatives in the 45th Legislative District. Kritzer’s campaign is centered on housing affordability, climate action, progressive revenue, and defending civil liberties. During her time on the Redmond City Council, Kritzer has focused on addressing housing affordability and supporting policies to increase housing supply and expand housing options for working families, including efforts to allow a wider range of housing types, including middle-income housing, in response to rising regional costs. She also worked on local climate and environmental initiatives, supporting policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve sustainability in city planning, and protect open space as the Eastside continues to grow and develop. In addition to her local elected experience, Kritzer serves as the Executive Director of the Washington Association of Land Trusts, where she coordinates more than 35 conservation organizations working to protect forests, farmland, shorelines, and critical habitat across the state and to advance long-term land stewardship and conservation policy. She has also engaged in statewide policy advocacy on land use, growth management, and environmental protection, bringing a combination of local government experience and statewide policy expertise. Vanessa Kritzer is a strong candidate with a record of effective leadership on housing, climate, and conservation issues, and she is well-positioned to bring that experience to the state Legislature.
