GEORGIA BALLOT EXPLAINER: AMENDMENT 3 📱🚨
What is it?
Amendment 3 would allow Georgia to create a dedicated Next Generation 911 Fund to help pay for upgrading, expanding and maintaining emergency 911 systems.
Why does it matter?
Next Generation 911 technology is designed to modernize emergency communications and may support texts, photos and videos in addition to traditional phone calls.
What does YES mean? You support authorizing the dedicated fund.
What does NO mean? You oppose authorizing the fund through this constitutional amendment.
The proposal would allow designated existing revenues to be placed into a fund reserved for 911 services. The amendment itself does not guarantee a specific amount of funding or a timeline for upgrades.
🗳️ Before voting, understand what the amendment changes and how the money could be used. Make an informed decision based on what matters to you and your community.

As voter I need transparency. They are currently using AI to field calls. How do we know this money will be used for HUMANS to take calls. There was money for Cop City, dip into that. Make it enough!

It authorizes the legislature to dedicate "certain existing revenues, including revenues reallocated by law" to a fund that doesn't expire at the end of the year. That money can be used only to expand, maintain, and operate 911 systems. The laws will be created on the future. People have died due to the poor 911 system, this guarantees money to improve it.
