I would vote no because I don't think the Alabama Constitution needs to be changed to give the Legislature additional control over its own compensation and spending. The provision dealing with a lieutenant governor vacancy has a reasonable goal—restoring voters' ability to choose someone to finish the term—but I don't think that one change necessarily justifies putting the other provisions into the Constitution. I would rather see the Legislature address these issues through ordinary law where appropriate, with greater transparency and accountability to voters.

If the Republicans win in November, and then If Tuberville gets removed from office because FLORIDA, then Wahl would become Governor, but he might also get removed from office because TENNESSEE. Then we'd have no Governor and no Lt Governor. We need a process for filling the Lt Governor vacancy.
This measure also includes giving the legislature the power to change the salary for the officers of the legislature so that they would make more than the regular legislators. That seems reasonable to me since being the Speaker of the House is a more difficult job than just being a member.
