Voting yes eliminates the 2006 constitutions provision in VA, which defines marriage strictly as a union between one man and one woman, opening the establishment of the fundamental right to marry, regardless of race, gender, or sex. Love is love.

What it does: Removes the obsolete language from the Virginia Constitution that defines marriage as only between a man and a woman, and affirmatively establishes that two adults may marry regardless of sex, gender, or race.

It also requires Virginia and its local governments to recognize and treat lawful marriages equally.
