Requires mail voters to provide a signature and identification number. Discriminates against illegal voters, so progressives will call it racist.

Colorado Beast Ballot
Dirigido por Rachel Garcia · 11 votantes
Every voter provides ID when registering. This proposed requirement to add a driver's license number or last digits of a social security number to the ballot envelope adds extra complexity for no reason.

As registered voters, we are required to sign our ballot envelope before submitting our ballots. Amendment 84 wants to expand the requirements to include the last four digits of our Social Security number, a Colorado driver’s license number, or a REAL ID to the ballot envelope in order for our ballots to be counted. We recommend voting NO on this amendment. - Amendment 84, by being a constitutional amendment, will get in the way of our elected legislators addressing voter ID changes in the future. - Amendment 84 adds more steps for voters to complete and could result in your ballot not being counted. - Amendment 84 puts more work on our county clerks to process the ballots. The additional steps slow down the process and add to the costs of conducting elections. The current Colorado election process is efficient and secure. By signing the ballot envelope, we already agree that the submitted ballot is ours. Adding more information to the envelope is just a useless hurdle that will not improve our already secure elections, will cost us more money, and could be used for identity theft.

Ballots Without the BS

Provide the last four digits of a Social Security number or Real ID-compliant Colorado license/ID number. Missing or unmatched information must be corrected within eight days after Election Day or the ballot is uncounted. Passport, military, or tribal photo ID may be used to correct it; qualifying elderly/disabled voters have broader options. In-person ID rules do not change. Existing verification works, the numbers tell a different story than the persistent claims. A national investigation identified 513 proven voter fraud cases in the past 10 years, which represents a very small fraction of more than 685 million votes cast during that period of time. The Heritage Foundation reports 1,176 proven instances of voter fraud in the past 26 years (since 2000). If 685 million votes were cast from 2016-2026, then at least a billion votes have been cast in the past 26 years. This measure could result in many errors, sensitive-data concerns, and ID barriers that could discourage voting or invalidate eligible ballots without meaningful security gains. Will cost the state up to $2.5 million initially and $1.2 million in later years.

Requires 55% approval because it adds language to the state constitution.
Shall there be an amendment to the Colorado Constitution requiring a voter to sign and include the last four digits of their social security number or their Colorado driver’s license or identification card number on the outside of their mail ballot for any federal or state election, and, in connection therewith, allowing the voter to correct missing or incorrect information, including with alternative forms of identification; and prohibiting a county clerk and recorder from counting the mail ballot unless the problem is fixed?
Amendment 84 would establish additional voter-identification requirements for mail ballots while preserving an opportunity for voters to correct deficiencies.
Why Vote YES?
Every eligible voter should be able to vote—and every legitimate vote should be protected.
Colorado conducts elections primarily through mail ballots. That makes strong verification procedures especially important.
Requiring voter identification information provides voters and election officials with another tool for confirming that a ballot belongs to the individual who submitted it. Importantly, a ballot problem should not automatically mean the voter loses the opportunity to have the ballot counted; the amendment provides for correction of specified deficiencies.
Election integrity and voter access are not opposites. A trustworthy election system should provide both.
Position: Secure the ballot while protecting legitimate voters' opportunity to correct errors. Vote YES.
