Corson explicitly pitches himself as a centrist moderate while Holscher supports legalizing medical marijuana, calls for an independent redistricting panel, term limits, and limits on corporate PAC money in elections. She wants to make school lunches free for every Kansas student and expand special education funding. She has been a vocal supporter of reproductive rights and opposed the 2022 constitutional amendment that would have restricted abortion access. She wants to raise the minimum wage to $16 per hour and allow higher-cost cities to set even higher minimums, plus mandate paid sick leave. The filing deadline isn't until June 1, 2026, so the field could still grow.

Has called for a pause on new data center development to establish regulatory safety rules first. Moderate on AI safety and regulation, strong on data center opposition, moderate public voice on AI.

With Democratic Governor Laura Kelly term-limited out, Republicans are working hard to seize back the governorship and complete their hold on a state where they already control a legislative supermajority. Keeping a Democrat in the governor's office is the only remaining check on that supermajority, and losing it would give the GOP the ability to push through their full agenda without any opposition, including potentially redistricting the 3rd Congressional District held by Democratic U.S. Representative Sharice Davids
