Jen Strebs is a Democrat running for her first term in the Michigan House of Representatives in the 41st District. Strebs grew up in Battle Creek and is currently serving her third term on the Kalamazoo County Commission as the Chairperson.
Strebs' priorities center on affordability, including raising wages, expanding affordable housing and childcare access, and providing medical debt relief, along with pushing for a single-payer healthcare system and protecting reproductive freedom. She also focuses on climate action, aiming to reach 100% clean energy by 2040 and expand PFAS cleanup funding, and on strong public education, backing increased K-12 funding and debt-free public higher education. Her platform includes democracy and voting rights reforms like ranked choice voting and campaign finance transparency, utility accountability measures to curb rate hikes, and a statewide moratorium on new data center construction until stronger protections are in place. She also supports expanded public transit, conservation of Michigan's land and water, and a statewide "Driver's License for All" program.
Strebs has been endorsed by the following progressive partner organizations: Equality Michigan Action Network, Sierra Club - Michigan, We the People Michigan, IBEW Local 131, and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan.
Strebs is running against Republican Nicole Sabel, who works as a real estate agent, and has a very limited public profile, though she did previously run for Kalamazoo County Commission in 2022.
Jen Strebs is the most progressive choice in this race.
