My judicial philosophy is simple: I follow the rule of law and administer justice impartially, without prejudice or bias. I believe people must be held accountable for their actions. As a judge, I have worked to keep our communities safe and have sentenced numerous violent criminals to life in prison without parole. Our cities face serious challenges from violent crime, including dangerous takeover events that threaten the safety of our communities. I have held criminals accountable, and I will continue to administer justice fairly and faithfully while working to ensure our local communities are safe from violent crime. I am proud to help keep North Carolina families safe, and I remain committed to the rule of law, accountability, and justice. Vote George Bell for Judge and “Ring the Bell for Justice.”

Reelection to NC Court of Appeals

Judge Toby Hampson has built his legal career around North Carolina’s appellate courts. A naturalized United States citizen and graduate of North Carolina public schools, Hampson clerked for three Court of Appeals judges before helping establish one of the state’s leading appellate law practices. Today, he is the only current member of the North Carolina Court of Appeals certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a specialist in appellate practice, having argued hundreds of appeals and authored hundreds of judicial opinions.

Hampson’s professional background reflects decades of experience interpreting North Carolina law across a broad range of cases, from family law and criminal appeals to complex commercial litigation and constitutional questions. Throughout his service on the bench, he has emphasized judicial independence, respect for the Constitution, and the importance of ensuring every litigant receives a fair hearing.

Judge Toby Hampson, a Moore County native and graduate of North Carolina public schools, earned his B.A. from American University and his J.D. with honors from Campbell University School of Law. He began his legal career clerking at the North Carolina Court of Appeals and later led the Appellate Practice group at Wyrick Robbins. Elected to the Court of Appeals in 2018, he is a certified specialist in Appellate Practice and remains active in the legal community while living in Raleigh with his wife and three daughters.
