U.S. Senate, Alaska

I’m running for Senate because I’ve seen firsthand how government is failing Alaskans.

I grew up on the Kuskokwim, fishing salmon with my father. Buzzy and I raised our seven kids here and spent long summer days at fish camp. Fishing with family is where Alaskans learn life’s lessons.

Life is difficult here. Alaskans know that, and we know that we have to take care of each other. We know no one from the Lower 48 is coming to save us. In Alaska, we pitch in to bail out a stranger’s swamping boat. We know that the next swamped boat could be ours.

Incumbent

Mary Peltola is running to represent Alaska in the U.S. Senate. Peltola served as the U.S. representative from Alaska's at-large congressional district from 2022 to 2025 – the first Democrat to represent Alaska in the House of Representatives in 50 years, the first woman to represent Alaska in the House, and the first Alaska Native in Congress. In the House, the Alaska State Legislature, and as a member of the Kuskokwim River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission and the Orutsararmiut Native Council Tribal Court, she served as a consistent advocate for the needs of rural Alaskans and for improving the lives of indigenous communities. Now, she's running for Senate to put Alaska first. JDCA endorsed former Rep. Peltola in 2022 and 2024.

Centers affordability and energy costs generally rather than data centers specifically. Included for completeness; her opponent Dan Sullivan actively petitions to bring data centers to military installations. Limited on AI safety and regulation, limited on data center opposition, moderate public voice on AI.

Republican Senator Dan Sullivan is seeking a third term in the ranked-choice-voting state, but former Congresswoman Mary Peltola's entry has transformed the race. She outraised Sullivan roughly 3.5-to-1 in Q2 of 2026, posting record-breaking fundraising forAlaska.

Sen. Dan Sullivan, in his second term representing Alaska, is a strong friend of the U.S.-Israel relationship. The Armed Services Committee member cosponsored and voted for a resolution standing with Israel and condemning Hamas after the horrific October 7th terrorist attacks.

He has consistently supported pro-growth policies that strengthen the economy and expand opportunity across the State.
