Craig Allison is a candidate for Putnam County Council, District 4. A longtime Greencastle resident who has called Putnam County home since 2010, he brings deep roots in North Central Indiana, a strong record of leadership in labor and workforce, and a consistent commitment to community service. Raised in Jasper County, Craig is a graduate of Tri-County High School in Wolcott and a former Jasper County 4-H member. After high school, he joined Laborers’ Local 274, where he has proudly served for 21 years. He began as a laborer in the field, later moved into partnership development work with LiUNA! Midwest Region of the laborers’ union, and now serves as a field representative for LiUNA Local 274 in Lafayette, Indiana. In that role, he advocates for working families on wages, training, dispatch, and apprenticeship opportunities. He also represents labor on the Region 4 Workforce Development Board and serves on the United Way of Greater Lafayette board. Craig is currently President of the Putnam County Fair Board, where he works to strengthen the fairgrounds as a community asset for youth, families, and local events. He is a Past Master of Temple Lodge 47, a former owner of Hog-N-It-All BBQ, and spent a decade coaching youth basketball for Greencastle Parks and Recreation. He has also volunteered with Celebrate 4 for three years and continues to support Greencastle Parks and Recreation and local public safety agencies as needed, including seasonal community outreach efforts with the fire and police departments. Craig and his wife, Tara, have been married since 2013 and are raising their two daughters, Emma and Elena, in Putnam County. The family has long ties to the area—Craig visited Raccoon Lake as a child, and Tara was born and raised here—making the decision to put down permanent roots a natural one. Craig’s community involvement is driven by a straightforward goal: to help make Putnam County an even better place for his children to grow up and for the next generation to thrive. With experience spanning skilled trades, workforce development, nonprofit boards, youth coaching, and local fairgrounds leadership, Craig offers a practical, hands-on perspective for District 4 and a focus on strengthening the community that has become his family’s home.
