Commissioner Bucher enjoyed a 37-year career with Bridgestone Firestone before retiring in 2001 and relocating to New Bern. Following his retirement, he and his children founded three Family Tire and Auto Service locations in eastern North Carolina. Commissioner Bucher has a long record of public and community service. He served for five years as a City of New Bern Alderman and has served as a director on several boards and organizations, including Allies for Cherry Point Tomorrow. He is a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where he teaches an adult Sunday School class and serves as Director of Men’s Ministry. Commissioner Bucher and his wife, Diann, live in New Bern.
