Evan Jones is a Democrat challenging Rep. Ed Orcutt in the 20th Legislative District. He is a tradesman and U.S. Army veteran currently serving as one of the Port of Longview Commissioners. He was inspired to run after the Port awarded a contract to a bid with a dangerous safety record and received a letter in poor defense of the decision. Jones is fighting to be a voice for workers and taxpayers.
Jones is running a more moderate campaign focused on lowering taxes and driving the workforce. He is supportive of expanding vocational training and apprenticeships to create more job opportunities. While we agree that workers and small businesses deserve more support from our government, we know that taxes are how we pay for the essential services our communities rely on, and they are needed. Jones also seems to oppose certain policies he believes don't align with the district, such as gun safety reforms and permitting.
While Evan Jones may not be the most progressive candidate in the race, we believe he will be a stronger advocate for workers' rights and protections than the incumbent. We recommend him to represent the 20th Legislative District.
