Janet St. Clair is running for Snohomish County Public Utilities to bring her history of public service to the important task of managing the local public utility. A former nonprofit executive and social worker, St. Clair has been deeply involved in the community as an eight-year Island County Commissioner, a board member of the Washington Association of Counties, and a six-year member of the Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board. On the Island County Commission, St. Clair supported solutions for affordability and environmental protections so that county residents of all income levels can build sustainable futures.
As a public utility commissioner, candidates will be expected to help set utility rates and approve budgets for local, community-owned utilities. St Clair's priorities, if elected, include keeping utilities affordable, working collaboratively across regional and local government, and ensuring access to clean water through climate planning.
St. Clair has been endorsed by a broad slate of Democratic elected officials from the state Senate, House, and Snohomish County Council. She has also been endorsed by Washington Conservation Action and local Democratic organizations. Janet St. Clair is the best choice in this race.
