Representative Maria Cervania has spent her career serving North Carolina through public health, local government, and community leadership. Before joining the General Assembly, she served on the Wake County Board of Commissioners, where she worked to expand access to affordable housing, strengthen public health services, and invest in education and community well-being. In 2022, she became one of the first two Asian American women elected to the North Carolina General Assembly, marking an important milestone in the state’s growing representation.
Drawing on decades of experience in public health and community service, Cervania has focused her legislative work on improving health outcomes, supporting working families, protecting public education, and ensuring all communities have equitable access to government resources and opportunities. Her collaborative leadership style reflects a deep commitment to listening to constituents and building partnerships across diverse communities.
NCAAT in Action is proud to endorse Representative Maria Cervania because of her lifelong dedication to public service and her leadership in expanding representation for Asian Americans in North Carolina. She continues to demonstrate how inclusive leadership strengthens both our democracy and our communities.
