Raised on a potato farm in Maine, he learned the value of family, faith, and hard work at an early age. His father, a decorated World War II veteran, and his older brother, who served more than 20 years in the U.S. Army before becoming a federal judge, both helped shape his commitment to service. Inspired by his brother and father, he applied to West Point and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry in 1976. He went on to serve more than 30 years in the U.S. Army as an Airborne Ranger and Special Forces-qualified Green Beret, retiring in 2006. After his military career, he worked in the defense industry and helped build a small business that grew to more than 150 employees. He returned home to Maine in 2021, determined to help get the country back on track through his campaign for U.S. Congress.
