Justin J. Pearson is a frontline fighter for Tennesseans who has led in and outside of the State House on environmental justice, civil rights, and gun safety legislation. Anchored in a bold reimagining of our politics, Justin’s vision for the future puts vulnerable communities at the center.
Throughout his time in the Tennessee State House, Justin has undone the status quo of minority politics by launching one successful pressure campaign after the other against Tennessee’s GOP supermajority. Following a fatal Nashville shooting in 2023, he stood with the Tennessee Three leading Gov. Bill Lee to issue an executive order mandating at-purchase background checks for Federally Licensed Firearms.
In the face of rampant government collusion with corporate actors and technofascists, Justin remains a steadfast advocate of the people. In 2020, he organized with Memphians to block the construction of the Byhalia pipeline planned to obstruct a predominantly black neighborhood. With unfettered Data Center development on the rise in Tennessee, Justin has pledged his loyalty to the people, rather than AI and big energy interests.
