SF YIMBY endorsed Matt Dorsey in the previous election and he has shown himself to be a major leader on housing in the Board of Supervisors ever since. He has backed the Family Zoning Plan, the 6th Cycle Housing Element, upzoning in Central SoMa and Mission Bay, and fee and inclusionary reductions for adaptive reuse and office-to-residential conversions. He has voted to reject every housing appeal that has come before the Board during his term, and used his seat to support state-level bills like SB 35 and SB 79.

Looking forward, Supervisor Dorsey is excited about the advancement of state bill AB 2074, which would streamline high-rise residential construction near regional transit hubs. He would like to work on local analogues to the fee transparency and predictability reforms that YIMBY has pushed at the state level and further streamline ADU approvals. On the state's 25,000-unit rezoning mandate, he would like to continue to upzone transit-rich corridors like The Hub, Van Ness, and Market Street, while ensuring that west-side neighborhoods finally carry their fair share.
