Rep. Vikki Goodwin has served in the TX House since 2019; she knows her sh*t and is an absolute workhorse. In the initial March primary I was definitely considering her runoff opponent, Marcos Velez, because he has the support of the labor movement. But a Houston Chronicle article revealed that Velez doesn't seem to know even the basics about the Texas legislature... troubling for someone who would be running the TX Senate if elected.

For context: The average person has no idea who the Lt. Governor is (Dan Patrick). This office is arguably more powerful than the Governor in getting laws passed because they are the head of the Texas Senate and control which bills move forward to a vote there (many more bills get filed each session than can possibly get voted on). ALL of his 2025 priorities made it into law, including a requirement that local law enforcement cooperate with ICE, as well as banning drag story time and THC in Texas.

I am voting for Vikki. Lots of people are choosing Velez. He is a good choice as well. Vote for who you want.
